As we slowly melted in the Buche Foods parking lot yesterday with our second Burgers & Brats fundraiser with the library teen board, we were VERY thankful to all who came and supported us despite the heat. It was a successful day even though our grill master was overcome by the heat and we had to close an hour early!
Well, so far I would say that the new interlibrary system is working pretty well. We have shared two books from our collection and managed to get them mailed out within 24 hours of getting a request from patrons in other SD libraries. In return we have received our requested items very quickly. Thanks to Nina at the SDSL and everyone who worked so tirelessly to get this big project completed!
Creative Cuisine, an adult summer program, involved bringing in samples of a new recipe tried this summer for others to try. Lots of yummy stuff was eaten on Wednesday night! Folks brought new salads, desserts and snacks. Very tasty and healthy, too. While the group was eating, I took some time to do a digital presentation about the new SHARE-IT interlibrary loan service offered by the SDSL and our library, and shared some information as well about how to find books in our online catalog. Claudia and Kari tied for being the first to know the name of our website. Way to go!
Afterwards, there were prize drawings for all who completed the summer reading challenge BINGO, which included several squares requiring reading, exercising and healthy eating. Congrats to all who completed the challenge and hats off to the over-achievers who tried to fill all the squares!
