So thankful for many things this year for our library. Great staff (thanks, Rae & Hunter!), lots of new books, movies and eBooks every month, supportive trustees and city council members, community members who support with their donations of time and funds, patrons who love to read as much as I do, children who share their love of reading and creating with me, a great partnership with the school and their super librarian (Holly!), city workers (Mark, Jack, Jennifer, Alex, & Al) who help out in many ways, encouragement and support from our wonderful staff at the South Dakota State Library (couldn't do it without you!), a husband (thanks, sweetie!) who volunteers the most hours to do everything on my list and so much more, and everything else I forgot to mention. Thank you, thank you! You are all truly a blessing to the Gregory Public Library!.
Oh boy! I was so excited to get the new Reading Olympic book list for the upcoming challenge in April 2016 for area students in grades 2-7. It was great to see that several titles were chosen from the current list of SD Children's Book Award and YARP nominees. That should give some readers a head start if they have been reading off of the list that I shared with them in October!
You can find the list of Reading Olympic titles by grade levels at the link for Children's Services on our home page. Twelve of the books that were not part of our collection already have been purchased and will be here by Thanksgiving. Thanks, Holly, for getting me the list!
Good luck, students, Holly Whitney, and school staff. Looking forward to a great year for Gregory participants in Burke, SD in April 2016.
TAB group was busy making turkey treats at their meeting this month for our Books on Wheels folks. Such a great group of teens! Thanks for your leadership help, Rae. You are awesome at crafts!
It's always a treat to visit with other librarians when you're working alone in a rural area. Thanks so much, Jane Healy, for stopping by our library, using our services, and "doing lunch" while you were in the area for an in-service at our local school. I truly enjoyed our time together.
