Another fun evening at the library last night. Both loud and muted book discussions were going on in small groups. Delicious wine was brought in by several participants and yummy treats were provided by Kathy and Cheryl. (Thanks, ladies!) A unique experience? Yes. New authors and genres explored and enjoyed. Great summer challenge. Congrats to all the winners and thanks to everyone who joined in the fun!
The library was invaded on July 1st by brick building lovers and two guys who really enjoy their "work". Curtis and Mike spent the day sharing their love of building with a certain block (that will remain nameless to avoid any trademark infringement) with four different groups of children and teens. It was crazy and chaotic and so much fun. It was interesting to see the results of imagination and creative juices flowing. The children are still talking about the event when they come back to the library. We highly recommend these terrific guys to your library!
The theme of our city's annual 4th of July parade was a perfect opportunity for the library to share its pride in our super readers for the summer. Children who read (or were "read to") for over 500 minutes in the month of June were invited to be honored by riding on our float. They had fun throwing candy to all their friends and even ended up with a bag of treats for themselves. Pictured are a few of our heroes.
